In a time when environmental protection has become one of the greatest responsibilities of society, Bodhi Vruksha Society for Development, Mysore stands as a committed organisation working towards a meaningful balance between human progress and nature conservation.
Founded in 2021 with the motto “Prosperity with Nature,” Bodhi Vruksha Society believes that development should not happen at the cost of the environment. Instead, true progress is possible when people, communities, institutions, and nature grow together. The organisation works with a strong vision of creating partnerships that support progress, development, and nature conservation.
Planting Trees, Growing Hope
Tree plantation is often seen as a one-day activity. But for Bodhi Vruksha Society, planting a sapling is only the beginning of a long-term responsibility. The organisation follows scientific methods of plantation, gives importance to native and locally suitable plants, and focuses on the survival and maintenance of saplings until they become strong enough to grow independently.
One of the major initiatives of the organisation is Kalyana Vana – 1, an afforestation and landscape restoration project at the Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi. Under this project, more than 3,000 saplings were planted across 25 acres and have been carefully maintained even in hot and dry weather conditions.
Continuing this green mission, Kalyana Vana – 2 was taken up as a groundwater recharge and afforestation programme, also at the Central University of Karnataka campus. This project includes more than 1,500 saplings across 15 acres, along with small ponds and trenches to support groundwater recharge.
Beyond Plantation: Building Environmental Awareness
Bodhi Vruksha Society understands that environmental change needs people’s participation. Along with plantation work, the organisation conducts awareness programmes, special talks, seminars, and public events to inspire citizens to take responsibility for nature.
On World Environment Day 2025, the organisation conducted a tree plantation and awareness programme at Varuna Lake, Mysuru, in collaboration with Outback Adventures, Mysore. As part of the event, 500 saplings were planted, and special talks were arranged to create awareness about environmental protection.
The Society also initiated the Parisara Prajna Award to recognise and encourage individuals who are actively working for environmental conservation. Such initiatives help bring attention to the efforts of green champions and inspire others to contribute to the cause.
A Commitment to Sustainable Development
Bodhi Vruksha Society’s work goes beyond trees. The organisation is committed to sustainable human development in the areas of education, health, environment, pollution reduction, alternative energy awareness, and quality of life. Its mission is to make these important areas accessible and affordable to citizens across India.
The organisation is led by a dedicated seven-member team under the leadership of Dr. Mysore Satish Chandra. With experienced members, many of whom hold Ph.D. degrees in social work, the Society combines academic understanding, field commitment, and social responsibility.
Why This Work Matters
Every tree planted today becomes a source of shade, oxygen, biodiversity, water support, and hope for future generations. When plantations are planned scientifically and maintained properly, they create long-term environmental value.
Bodhi Vruksha Society’s approach is not just about increasing the number of trees. It is about creating living green spaces, improving groundwater recharge, supporting biodiversity, reducing pollution, and encouraging citizens to respect and protect nature.
Be Part of the Green Change
The future of our environment depends on the actions we take today. Bodhi Vruksha Society for Development welcomes individuals, institutions, companies, donors, volunteers, and well-wishers to join hands in this mission.
By supporting plantation projects, CSR partnerships, environmental programmes, donations, and community awareness initiatives, everyone can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
Together, let us grow prosperity with nature.
